Substantial - Jackin' Jill (Mixtape)

QN5 and Mello Music have joined forces again to bring us a brand new mixtape from DMV native, Substantial. And if that aint enough, Stan drew that amazing cover art too. Dude has got some serious talent. Anyways, Substantial has always been a big fan of Jill Scott, and this is his Jill Scott inspired project. Featuring 17 joints of unofficial remixes, and new songs using Jill Scott samples. Stan is an incredibly dope emcee, so do not sleep on this tape.

Tonedeff - Glutton EP

Tonedeff is reinventing the album release. As we have evolved into an ADD nation, Tone has evolved with us. With his latest release, he brings us the Glutton EP. Each EP consists of 5 songs, and will be available on bandcamp at the low low price of "name your own price." So you can grab it for free, you can contribute whatever you feel, or (and this is where it gets fun), you can pre-order the full Polymer CD/DVD now, giving you access to the first 3 digital EPs as they are released, and the exclusive 4th EP only available in the physical format to those who pre-order. And Tone will only be pressing as many copies as are pre-ordered, so if you want a piece of QN5 history, get your pre-order in now!

Tonedeff & PackFM - Tacos And Chocolate Milk Podcast

Back in 2005, Tonedeff, PackFM, and the QN5 extended family (no big puns intended), dropped one of the first record label podcasts ever, entitled, "WQN5." They were stupid funny. Even if it only lasted two episodes. WELL, Tone and Pack are back at it with a brand new podcast. The title, "Tacos And Chocolate Milk" stems from a line used in Tone and Pack's song "Good Combinations" from way way back in the day. There is no format here. Just two dudes who love hip hop, shooting the shit for an hour at a time. They are already 7 episodes in (hands in late pass), so go grab all 7 below!

PackFM - Want What's Mine (BTSTU Remix)

Still pretty fresh off of Pack's, I Fucking Hate Rappers, he's already prepping a new album entitled, The Human Highlight Reel. I know IFHR came out like a year and a half ago, but anything released within 2 years of their last project is HUGE for a QN5 rapper hahaha. NO SHOTS, I'm just still waiting on that Chico and the Man album (and Spicasso, which will never come out). So anyway, check out Pack's new video up top, and download the song below if you dig it...

QN5 Evolution Documentary (Part 1: Past)

The wonderfully creative minds at QN5 have put together this incredible documentary for their Megashow in New York City last week. During the show, they performed classic records from the labels past, bangers from the present, and some brand new material for the future... This is part one of their three part documentary that aired at the beginning of each of the three acts of their show. Parts two and three will be coming this week and I can only imagine that they will be equally amazing.

Session ft. Darien - Hope

*Hands in late pass* Former QN5 emcee and Extended F@mm member, Session, dropped off this joint on twitter a little over a month ago. It's not a NEW song, but its newly released. He hasnt recorded any new music a hot minute, as he has started working as a "model scout" for worldstarhiphop (as you can see above, it appears to be a decent job). But I always dug Session, so I thought i'd throw this up here.

Throwback Of The Day: Tonedeff & Fresh Chest Edition

Tonedeff just recently released his 46 track, 2 disc compilation entitled, Cold.Killed.Collected, via QN5 music. Only 500 copies were pressed, so if you want a piece of QN5 history, order yours before they run out by clicking the title there in sentence number 1...

Anyways, in honor of his release, I decided to post up one of my favorite tracks from the album. Originally released in the summer of 2004 on the New York based label, Fresh Chest records, this joint featured all of your favorite underground NY emcees, plus two random guys who call themselves, "The Understudies." The catch? It's The Understudies' song. In the long run, I dont think they ever even put out an album. Or if they did, it went out of print before I could ever get my hands on a copy. And I tried. But nevertheless, this song is super dope. To this day, it remains in my top 5 "posse cuts" ever. Plus it made its way onto Monk and my Chillin Like A Villain Vol. 2 tape... SO YEAH... Here is the obligatory posse cut, BANANAS.
