Throwback Of The Day: The West Side Is The Best Side

You know the best part about Throwbacks? You never run out of them... So while Im in the mood, here's another one for you! 1998, TQ hit the scene as a West Coast R&B crooner. Following in the footsteps of the legendary Nate Dogg (R.I.P.), TQ was one of the few mainstream R&B singers who seemed to come from a very street background. Most other R&B acts at the time were singing about making sweet, sweet love to your girlfriend while you were buying the baby extra pampers at costco... But not TQ. And thats what made him stand out so much in my eyes. As a 12 year old child in middle class america, clearly I related closest with the gangster music that rang from the cul-de-sac's to the local retirement centers.

I do believe this was also one of my first experiences hearing a song on the radio all the time, learning all of the words, and then buying the single only to find out that half of those words I learned from the radio aren't what they say on the real song.
