Milk Crate's Top 10 Albums: Monkzilla #6

06. RJD2-Dead Ringer
When I came across RJD2's Dead Ringer album, i had found it at the store that opened me up to majority of my Hip Hop finds in tower records. I was guilty of picking albums by there covers, and this was one of them. Normally if i liked a album on a specific record label I'd look up other producers or artist on there roster and rack em up this album was completely diffrent from the artist aside it.

There a transition of moods that flow beautifully with this album, and while it was mainly a instrumental drop there were three tracks ("June","Final Frontier", and "FHH") that consisted of quality emcees who did the beats justice.

The Most unique quality about this album in my opinion that set it out compared to the rest among its genre is that Dead Ringer created settings and atmosphere behind its beats. With styles of psychedelia, funk, soul, and rock all formed into one package, you as the listener can easily escape into the dark, yet enlightening surrounding you are provided with. Most instrumental albums (even the classic ones that played a more pivotal role in Hip Hop) are beat chops, and short teasers leaving you with quick pleasures. Dead Ringer expands your scope, and carries out the soundscape for the listener.
