I was gonna post this the other day when it dropped, but I didnt. And no we have a DJ free version, which is always so much better to listen to anyways. So here you go. Brand new tape from Ghetto FA-BO-LO-US. Enjoy it without DJ Drama ruining your day. The intro and skits have been removed, which results in a 12 track tape.
New video from R. Les. His album, Les Is More was originally supposed to drop on July 4th this year, so hopefully this joint will catch on, so we can actually have this album.
Someone emailed me this link. Had no clue it existed till today. One of my Oxnard big homies Duddley Perkins/Declaime was featured in this Documentary. Duddley has been one of the most polarizing characters in the underground for quite sometime. A singer, emcee, vocalis, poet, and just an all around awesome dude, this is sure to captivate you.
Chuuwee drops a new video from a song that was only available as a snippet off of his Watching the Throne mixtape. It will be featured, in full, on his upcoming Crown Me King LP soon.
Fashawn drops some visuals from Generation F, which will be featured off his next project; Champagne & Styrofoam Cups which you can expect out in March.
The Kush God, was in a giving mood this season...and decided to let go a new mixtap (Sweet Baby Kushed God) that has features from Action Bronson, A$AP Rocky, Danny Brown, Freeway, Killa Kyleon and more. Enjoy.
Timbo drops a new set of visuals off of one of my favorite albums from the year. Be sure to wake the fuck up and check that album out From Babylon to Timbuk2.
So I recently returned from a two week vacation. First time sitting down at a computer and see this little diddly in the inbox. NICE WAY TO RETURN. Toronto's Weeknd returns with his Third free tape of 2011....Echoes of Silence. What a year for the XO rep! & just a nod, he opens up with a motherfucking Dirty Diana rendition....murda!
Brand new old music from one of Canada's illest emcees, Shad. This joint contains some remixes, some features, some unreleased, etc. But it's Shad. And he's dope. So you still need this for you ipod, or your computer, or whatever you use to listen to music on.

Ash Roth drops off his new tape for the holidays. So listen to this and ignore the new Nicki Minaj single that dropped today. This whole joint is produced by Blended Babies unless otherwise noted... I'm throwing this on the iPod now, so i'll have something to listen to on my way to work.

As I was scrolling through my iPod to find something to listen to on my half hour drive to work this morning, I scrolled all the way up to the A's and didnt make it too far after that. I've always been a huge fan of Aaliyah. I remember when the "Are You That Somebody" video came out, and she was steadily #2 on TRL, week after week after week. And I had it mapped out so that I'd turn the TV on at like 3:52 exactly, just in time for them to go into her video, and then I'd turn it off. But I digress, I decided to play the 2 disc Ultimate collection. And as I got through "Age Aint Nothing But A Number," "4 Page Letter," "At Your Best," and even "Come Back In One Piece," I came upon the song, "I Am Music." It was originally released on Timbaland and Magoo's sophomore release, Indecent Proposal (which I also own), and also featured Static Major of the R&B trio Playa. I immediately remembered the song, and knew I liked it, but as I listened again for the first time in easily 5-6 years, I fell in love with this music all over again...
So, if you follow this blog religiously (which all of you should), you'll know that a few weeks ago, I started a tumblr. I quickly lost interest in posting things on it. Like, very quickly. But I still enjoy using the website to keep track of a handful of other people's pages. And while I was on there today, I came across a song that really just stuck out to me as being super dope. I'd never heard of the artist before, but I was just in the right mood, and I played the song easily 4 times through... And because I'm a nice guy, I want to share this music with you. The song is called "Double Minded," and it's by singer/producer AEli. He is part of a crew called Elephant In The Room, which appears to be based out of LA. If you like the song, click HERE to check out the Elephant In The Room tumblr page for other songs and future updates...
Apparently the industry insiders at XXL magazine have grown tired of trying to let us know about who they think is worthy of some buzz. So this year, they are putting the fate of the 2012 Annual "Freshmen 10" in your hands. With 50 different artists to choose from, you can only vote once. Unless you switch browsers, vote again on your cell phone, vote from your work computer, etc. You know... You can only vote "once." Now, I'm not trying to sway your vote by posting the picture above in this post, I'm just tired of Emilio being left off the list. Hit the link to see the full list of nominees, and cast your vote. And I swear to you, if V-Nasty makes this list, I quit music forever.
And just in case you were wondering, my ideal list would be: Action Bronson ASAP Rocky Casey Veggies Danny Brown Emilio Rojas Laws Macklemore Schoolboy Q Stalley STS
(Again, this is just the 10 I would chose. Not the 10 I think will be chosen. Also, where the eff is Dom? Just saying.)
Azealia Banks. That's her name. She's definitely interesting. I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about this song, but the more I hear it, the more I like it. And word is, Kanye just reached out to her... I have a feeling this will not be the last time you mispronounce the name Azealia Banks.
Blu and Exile drop off a new album via bandcamp. Its not exactly new to being made, but it is new to us. I guess this material was all recorded in 2009. I dont care though. As long as it sounds more like Below The Heavens and less like No York! Stream it below, or if youre feeling particularly kind, drop $15 on the download...
So, I was looking through some old music the other day, and I came across Cool Calm Pete's Lost, which is an amazing album, if you dont have it. But it got me wondering where he went after Def Jux died last year. So I got to googling, and found out that he is involved with this new label called, Modern Shark. So I grabbed their latest mixtape (which you can get below), and this joint by Big Urban really stuck out to me. For clear reasons, I listened to this song first, and as much as he sounds like he sould have been signed to Anticon or something, I really dig this song. So here it is for you to all enjoy with me, and if you want to check out the Modern Shark label mixtape, you can grab that below...
Smooth new joint from Emilio Rojas and this new chick named Nikkiya, who is pretty dope, and you should get up on her music if you havent yet (click her name in the tags, I posted her mixtape a few months ago). But anyways, this is from Emilio's upcoming tape, Breaking Point, which should be dropping the "third week of January." We'll see.
2 new Stalley verses. I wonder how long it's gonna be before Maybach puts out a new Stalley project? Anyways, dont forget, Lincoln Way Nights is out in stores and on iTunes now.
I'm telling you... Even the notable songs recently are only half way good... New verse from Spitta... From the soundtrack to what looks like the worst movie ever made.
...Is Red Cafe like 4 feet tall? Anyways, he's extra meh on the mic, but this joint features new verses from Trigga, Wale & Cole. So add it to your playlist or something. Red Cafe's new album, No One Cares About Me, is coming out never.
Maybach Music's Meek Mill (thats a lot of M's) jumps on the (in my humblest of opinions) worst beat from Drake's Take Care for a new promo joint. I think there is a Self Made Vol. 2 coming in the near future. So I'll just promo that...
Asher lets go of one more new joint from his upcoming project, Pabst & Jazz, which will be hitting the shelves of your local iTunes on December 20th. Asher's been impressing me a lot lately.
Thanks to the good folks over at the Dopehouse, Common has agreed to put up his brand new album one week early for streaming. And this video is interactive too, so if you click on the song title in the left hand column, it'll jump you right to that song. Or if you prefer to let it play from front to back, just hit play on the video and enjoy...
Combining the short video's for 4 new joints on the amazing new Roots album, undun, here is the full short film accompanying the album. This video features the songs, "Tip The Scale," "Stomp," "Make My," and "Sleep." And dont forget to go buy undun immediately.
Still pretty fresh off of Pack's, I Fucking Hate Rappers, he's already prepping a new album entitled, The Human Highlight Reel. I know IFHR came out like a year and a half ago, but anything released within 2 years of their last project is HUGE for a QN5 rapper hahaha. NO SHOTS, I'm just still waiting on that Chico and the Man album (and Spicasso, which will never come out). So anyway, check out Pack's new video up top, and download the song below if you dig it...
I cant speak for Monk and Poet, but the new singles Ive been hearing have been mad uninspired. But on the flipside, the fourth quarter of oh-11 has seen some of this years illest albums being released (ASAP Rocky, Drake, The Roots, Wale, Action Bronson, etc). So I apologize for the lack of posts lately, shit has just been super boring on the singles tip.
That being said, lets post some more videos of dope shit...
Take what you will from Wale's new single, but this is the shit that I point to whenever someone says that Wale "sold out." Argue it if you want, but I love this song...
In other news, 3:07 might be my favorite thing ever.
As Tyga readies his Young Money debut, Careless World, which drops later this month, he's giving us one more free jawn. Download it below, and also watch the NSFW music video for "Make It Nasty"
01. Thoughts From Detention (ft. Shep) 02. U Keep Calling (ft. Neka B) 03. Ignorance Is Bliss 04. Plastic Cups And Blunts (ft. A Da Business) (prod. by Hi-Tek) 05. Reality Check 06. Saturday (ft. Tone Trezure) 07. Tune Out (ft. iLL Camille)
OG Ron C takes the reigns from Drizzy, and chops up the OVO front man's latest offering. If you frequent Drake's website, you'll notice that almost every time he (or The Weeknd) drops off a new song for the world, OG Ron C is right there with a chopped & screwed version. This one includes all 17 songs, both interludes, and the two iTunes bonus joints. So, if you're into this kinda stuff (like I am from time to time), grab this free download, and enjoy the now over 2-hour long album from Drake...
Like most, my first introduction to Hell Razah came in the form of Sonz of Man's The Last Shall Be First. Those that have known me over the years, would tell you, that there has probably been no artist in that time frame that I've followed more closely. In 2010, Razah, fell into a coma due to a brain aneurysm. Shortly after, his transformation into Heaven Razah was released in the form of a Self Titled album. The name change and overall feel of the album was a huge shock in that it was finished pre coma. Some of the songs seemed like Razah was almost aware that his life could be tested soon. Now nearing the end of 2011, Razah has since began his journey into recovery. He had to relearn how to walk & talk all over again. Last month he and RA the Rugged Man put out visuals to Return Of The Renaissance. A task proven difficult with Razah still in the middle of his recovery at home. I'm happy to see that he's doing a lot better and shockingly after less than a year of recovery is already working on the follow up to Heaven Razah. Also, he's just put out a new mixtape that is comprised of some leftovers from Heaven Razah 1 sessions and a few other gems featuring the likes of; Killah Priest, Grand Puba, his new group Black W.A.S.P. and even his son Kappo. All Proceeds will be going to his family in the much needed aid to help lessen the financial blow that his medical treatments have incurred. Purchase Razah RebornHere.
Also, Not on the tape, is the new track Back Again. Incredible the journey this man has been able to persevere through.
Danny Brown drops some new visuals to "Blunt After Blunt" which so happens to be my favorite song from his XXX album. Surprisingly this video co-directed by Asap Rocky.
On Thanksgiving, I finally decided to listen to the new Action Bronson & Statik Selektah album, Well Done. And then I listened to it again. And then once more. Yeah, It's kinda good.
New tape from C Plus. I havent heard anything from this one, but I can tell you that his last tape, All C.I.T.Y. was dope as shit. So lets download this one right now, and we can listen together.
Odd Future continues to grow on me more and more as a collective. At first, I could only stomach listening to Tyler. But that was mainly because I was too busy judging the shit out of the music. But the more I listened, the more I liked Hodgy, Mike G, Earl and Domo. I also dig Syd and Frank, but I kinda put them in a different category. But word. This is Mike G's new EP, featuring production by Syd, Hodgy Beats and more. So grab it below, and give it a couple hundred spins...
Another one of my favorite up and comers, releases his latest tape. Willie the Kid has long ago stepped out his brothers shadow and carved a niche out for himself. This tape is pretty fucking awesome, so don't sleep.
Years ago, Ohno mentioned to me he was doing an album with Alchemist. I thought it was a interesting combination, but didn't hear anything come of it for what seemed like another two years. But when they finally released Gutter Water we all finally saw how awesome they could work together. Now their really on a roll. They've consistently put out dope product since the first release. Now they're gearing up to release Vodka & Ayanuaska on Jan 24th, and with that they've decided to put out the first single; Dump Truck which features Prodigy.
I feel like I've been bigging up this dude till I'm blue in the face, for well over a year now. Glad to see he's finally getting some shine that he deserves. You ask me, he's easily the best new cat around. Take Notice. Grab his Watching the Throne tape, because it's fucking awesome.
Juan Deuce & Falside put out this EP a few days back and I was too busy to get it up. But after getting the chance to play it a few times, I must say that this shit is impressive. The duo really are able to compliment each other. Album stream below, then download it. Trust.
Blackstar is back. Not sure if that statement holds as much weight as it once would have. But it's good to know that at least it is in the works. I'm probably more geeked to know both these single are coming with production to a couple Ox reps that I grew up around.....You Already Knew is produced by Ohno and is said to be apart of an upcoming Aretha Franklin tribute tape the duo is planning on releasing. Fix Up (produced by Madlib) is to be on the actual album.
The Jazz trio from Toronto gained a bit of internet fame earlier in the year when they did a session of instrumental interpretations of music by Tyler, The Creator. Not too long after that, Tyler met up with the trio and recorded a quick session live to post to youtube. Now theyre releasing their debut long play covering some of hip hop's classics, and a few new ones too. So if you enjoy some dope hip hop/jazz fusion, do not sleep on these kids... Oh, and check all the way below for a video of them performing "She" from Tyler's album, Goblin.
If I'm being completely honest, I downloaded OnCue's last project, Cuey Sings The Blues, and it didnt blow me away. But I am kind of in love with his latest single, "Feel Tall." So here is OnCue's latest offering, Can't Wait.
1. Headlights (prod. Chanes) 2. Running (prod. CJ Luzi & Matt Grover) 3. The Geoffrey (prod. CJ Luzi) 4. All the Way (prod. manicanparty & CJ Luzi) 5. Cigarettes and Perfume (feat. manicanparty) (prod. manicanparty) 6. Better Than Before (prod. CJ Luzi) 7. Can't Wait (prod. CJ Luzi & EM Ricchini) 8. Feel Tall (prod. CJ Luzi) 9. Don't Fall for That (feat. Sonny Shotz) (prod. Justin W.) 10. Only Thing We Know (prod. CJ Luzi) 11. Not For Nothing (prod. CJ Luzi) 12. Kinda Late (feat. Mike Posner) (prod. 88-Keys) 13. Make It All Work (prod. CJ Luzi) 14. Selfish (prod. CJ Luzi) 15. Alive (prod. manicanparty & CJ Luzi)
I dont know much about Rittz. But I know the first two times I heard him, I said to myself, "This guy is ok..." but I never quite got around to downloading his mixtape, White Jesus. After hearing this new joint... I dont know what it is. There's just something haunting (in a good way) about the barely-there beat, with his flow over the top of it... I'm going to go find that mixtape right now...
(If you want it as well, it's here: Rittz - White Jesus. Also, Poet posted the video for this song back Here.)
Madlib jumps on the boards while Gangsta Gibbs grabs the mic on this new joint from their joint EP(ish) entitled, Thuggin'. I call it an EP(ish) because its really only 2 songs (with instrumentals), and 2 bonus beats. But either way, It's available now in vinyl, or as an mp3 download, so head over to Stones Throw to support...
New video from one of my favorite non hip hop albums of the year. And did you guys see her on SNL the other week? I dont know, there's just something dark about her music, and seeing her perform it while cheesing from ear to ear just seemed weird to me haha. But anyways, this shits dope, so peep game. And if you like it, go support by copping her new album, Ceremonials.
...And the award for worst album cover of all time goes to!... Yeah, I hate it too. And I hated Lasers. And blah blah, it all makes me so sad because I truly loved Food & Liquor and The Cool. But either way, I'm gonna give him another shot. Lupe is back with a new mixtape entitled Friend Of The People. Featuring 12 brand new tracks, which most look like theyre produced by electro groups. Which makes me a little hesitant. But whatever. If this one sucks too, Lupe, you only get one more shot...
I dropped the song a couple weeks ago, and now the two Maybach front runners are here to drop off the video. I guess the reason this didn't make Wale's album, Ambition, is because they were saving it for the upcoming MMG compilation, Self Made Vol. 2.
Toronto and XO(weeknd & dropxlife) representative Khat drops another video. For those not familiar check the back catalog. He's extremely hit and miss with me. He has some eye opening shit, then will jump into the more Dubstep type of sound...which I loathe. Grab all three albums below and draw your own conclusions. Also check out the above video (he pretty much makes a vid for every song) and the rest here.
The first time I heard of Ryshon Jones was actually on this site (see even we find new shit from eachother), Kannon posted his single Desire & then his Friday EP. First thing I noticed is that he sampled The Weeknd a good deal. He's been on a tear as of late, damn near letting a single go a day. And each one has damn near been better than the last. Check out a few of them. His Brightest Nights Darkest Days is due out Dec. 23rd and I'm officially excited for it.
Common just sounds more at home over a smokey jazz band type of sound. So with him teaming up with bassist/producer Derrick Hodge it really sparked my interest. No let down here. This will be featured on Derrick's upcoming album, with the same title. As for Common, his The Dreamer, The Believer, is due out Dec. 20th.
There's been a few leaks from this tape that i've heard and somewhat liked. Kind of a weird style to be a "9th Wonder protegee"....but there is definitely some talent there. The Kendrick Lamar track is what caught my attention....check that out...then give the tape a spin.
Always liked when KNO did more of a R&B production style. So when I saw that he's done a remix for Detroit based Singer JMSN it caught my attention. This is pretty damn dope. Expect JMSN's album †Priscilla† to drop 01.11.12.
Schoolboy Q drops another solid track. No clue when his next project (#HNC) is due out....but i'm told soon. He's consistently been putting out heaters...so anticipation is high right now.
Duck Down's latest signee, David Dallas, links up with Buckshot for the latest single from his album, The Rose Tint. The deluxe edition was just released on iTunes and in stores last week, so if you havent heard the album yet, go support and enjoy some incredibly dope music. One of my favorite albums of the year.
Jerreau has one of the simplest styles I've heard in a long time. And yet, there is something about that elegant simplicity that makes his music so dope.
